Breakfast Club Strike News Flash

As of May 10th, 2002, all unionized employees at 1425 Queensway in Toronto Weston Distribution Centre are on strike. The main issues are the unlimited part time workforce and outside drivers. How long it will take to resolve this main obstacle in negotiations, who knows?. Judging from the past and taking into consideration greed and lack of grasp of the bigger picture not only for it's own employees but also for company as a whole, that could take long time.

May 11th, second day of strike. The position of the company is the same as day before. Each person is required six hours of strike duty (check your schedule with your union representative) but if you desire to come more often you are more then welcome and bring some family and friends. Company is allowed or we are permitted to hold incoming or outgoing trucks for no more than 20 minutes. Have a fun !!!

May 11th. Two more strike locations. One at Eastern Ave. and Highway 7 and the other at Bayfield Rd. at Thomson Transport. Tomorrow we are expecting rain so make sure you bring umbrella and warm jacket and don't forger the watch.

May 12th. Rain and more rain but spirits are high. New strike locations in Orillia and Kitchener. New locations plans for Kingston and Ottawa. Next, who knows?

May 13th. 1211 Martin Grove Rd. next stop to nowhere! More rain. Sunday second stage of the strike. More to come....Thanks for the all e-mails and keep in touch.

May 14th. More rain. At six PM we have new offer from the company. Three years contract, one thousand signing bonus, $0.50 more per hour for transport and shipping. Overtime after 38 hours. For students, $.20 each year increase per hour, $200 signing bonus. Garage: $1.00 increase per year. All the rest stays the same......See you there.

May 15th. Back to work. At 8:00 AM, breakfast with the management, Kevin Tracy, Steve Belko and others. Main comment, let me paraphrase at this point: "Like in family, shit happens. Welcome back"

May 16th, slowly everything coming back to normal.
